50th Congressional District Election April 2006
Candidates Francine Busby and
Brian Bilbray
A special election was held on April 11, 2006 to fill the vacancy in the 50th Congressional District.
Candidates Francine Busby and Brian Bilbray came by the KUSI studios on April 12th to talk about the
results of the election and their goals.
Francine Busby led the 17 other candidates with over 40% of the votes. Busby was the primary Democrat
in the election. Brian Bilbray led the pack of over a dozen Republican candidates with a little over
15% of the vote. Many political pundits say Bilbray is actually now the favorite in the runoff election
since the 50th District is overwhelmingly Republican.

Aimee Fuller shows Francine the Union Tribune headline about the election: "Busby outpaces GOP pack
falls short of outright win.

Brian Bilbray then joined us.
