CHP buys BMW Motorcycles




According to an official CHP Press Release dated 11/5/97, the CHP has awarded a contract to BMW of North American for 150 to 200 enforcement motorcycles. The motorcycle will be their R1100RT-P model.

The one year contract includes a provision for BMW to buy back the motorcycles at the end of 3 years or 60,000 miles.

The bids were as follows:

BMW: . . . . . . . $5,900

Harley-Davidson: $5,996

Kawasaki: . . . . $6,000

Presently, the CHP has 5 Harleys, 7 BMWs and 419 Kawasakis in the fleet.
